Tything

Tything is the ancient practice of giving away 1/10 of your income to receive more.  Typically, people tend to think of tything as giving to a church.  I'm not sure why people think they have to give to a church to tythe.  There are literally a million ways to tythe and a million deserving charities and people in need.  When I attend church, I am more than glad to contribute to the collection plate.  However, in general, I believe in tything to the universe.  Sometimes, people or charities are placed in my path that I simply have the ability to help and so I do.  It is really very simple.  I look around my lovely home, full of everything I could ever want or need, my well fed and happy children, all of our modern luxuries and conveniences and I feel very happy and blessed.  That being said, since I have been so extraordinarily blessed to receive so much, there is no reason on Earth for me not to give back.  In most cases, I do not consider giving to a church enough of a return of what I have received.  So, I guess my concept of tything differs in two ways from that of the general perception.

1. I believe the Lord is happy with giving with a loving heart.  Doesn't matter where your money went, you tythed if you shared your blessing.  If the choice is an orphanage or a church, pick the orphanage.

2. I don't tythe to receive, I tythe because I have received.  I have it to give, chances are, if you're reading this, so do you.  Give it.  Don't make excuses, there are none.

So, you may be thinking no worthwhile or deserving person or charity has been placed in your path lately.  Don't worry, I can help you with that.

I recently learned of the Tries of Campbell Children Center in Uganda.  There never was an organization more deserving and more in need.  If you have ONE DOLLAR to give, go to your nearest Western Union and GIVE IT.  These are devoutly religious people who care for children.  And they are desperately in need.  I have learned that they are currently only able to feed everybody once per day.  This is unacceptable.  To me, it is very simple.  I eat more than once a day.  So does my husband.  So do my kids.  I have extra funds and I WILL give to these beloved people and you should too.

In the photo, they orphanage was preparing for a fundraiser to attempt to raise money to build buy land I believe for a home.  They only needed to raise $5500.  They were only given $50.  And they were thankful for that.  They are trusting in God to see them through.  You and I can be the light they need.

I ask that you also like their page on Facebook so that you can help spread the word of these people so loving and so DESPERATELY in need and you invite others to help as well.  Come on people.  Lets lift these people up.  Remember, some day, you may be desperate and your blessings may be delivered seemingly from nowhere.  I implore you for your help and ask you RIGHT NOW, spring into action...
