Interview with Captain Jack from "Fantastical Life of Serenity"

Serenity has been writing stories since she could write…  She gave it up for a while in high school following the trauma of writing a full length novel and then losing the notebook on the school bus.  At that time she threw herself into drama which has only served to further enhance her creative abilities.  She has recently completed what is her first published work.

"The Fantastical Life of Serenity" was released on July 2nd.  It is a collection of short stories about what could be… But not quite is.  This story is a refreshing change from the modern day negativity that is so prevalent in our society.  Valle has infused her own unique brand of magic into Fantastical life, leaving the reader feeling upbeat and ready to take on the world.  Such a unique story taking the reader on an exciting journey through time and a fanciful world.

Here at Under the Sun, we are incredibly excited to welcome one of the fantastical characters from the book who has agreed to grace us with an interview!  Please welcome, Jacques Capitán, fondly known as Captain Jack.
Q. Mr. Capitán, so lovely of you to join me today.  Obviously you know what a hot commodity you are in the fiction world, I'm sure interviewers are beating down your door…  Let's just get this out of the way right from the beginning.  Now, why is it you weren't already snatched up long before Serenity came along?  You must have ladies falling at your feet…

A. Well, that is a great first question. Am I blushing? He he. I had my share of dates before meeting Serenity, but all I can conjecture is that deep down, I knew I was waiting for the perfect match. I’ve found her now and I won’t be letting her go.

Q. Now, Jack, tell me, where exactly is it that you think your "special" abilities came from?  There must be some sort of explanation, right?

A. I am sure there must be, however I am not aware of what it is. I know I didn’t step in any nuclear goo like those turtles did, or get bitten by a radioactive spider. My father also apparently had this… ability? So I assume it to be passed down through my paternal side of the family. Beyond that, I couldn’t say, but it would be interesting to find out!

Q. And, I was just wondering…  The similarities with Serenity are so tremendous, so unreal…  Did it ever cross your mind you might actually be RELATED to her?

 A. Briefly, yes. However, my father was of French and Scottish descent and my mother of Spanish. Serenity’s parents were of Russian and English, so we’re pretty sure we’re safe.

Q. It must feel great to have been reunited with your long lost family.  Can you tell me a little about what you've all been doing together since you found one another?

 A. We have been getting together as much as possible. Rémy is a music executive in L.A. so he’s usually quite busy and Catòn is rehearsing for a big part in a show, but we all make time for each other when we can. We switch off where we meet, last time Rémy and myself met Catòn in New York, the time before we were in California. In a couple of months, they will meet me here and we will also go spend time in Charlottesville with our mother.

 Q. Though, I'm sure you've always been a superstar in your own right, how does it feel to be an international icon now, thanks to the release of "The Fantastical Life of Serenity?"

A. Honestly, it is somewhat overwhelming! While Rémy and Cat might be accustomed to being in the spotlight, I’ve lived a fairly normal life up until now. Besides having traveled a lot, I haven’t done much that is spectacular. I’m getting more used to it, I think. I’m like a celebrity, getting noticed on the streets and everything.

 Q. Well, again, thank you so much for being with us today.  I'll close with one final question.  Something your fans are dying to know…  Do you and Serenity expect to see any little ones in your future?  What do you think THAT would be like?

 A. Yes! I can guarantee there will be at least one mini-Jack and mini-Serenity pitter-patting through our hall at some point. We would like to get married first, but times are changing, so we wouldn’t really have to, would we? As for what it would be like, I’m sure it will be explosive! Unless they end up “cancelled out”, I believe we should steer clear of microwaves!
