My New Art Portfolio (and Some News)

So, news from the Amanda Gatton camp...  I am attending the 2018 Cleveland Writing Workshop! On... Friday. Day after tomorrow. *chomps nails* Writing workshop, you ask? But, Amanda Gatton hasn't been doing any writing lately, right? Well, not exactly! I just don't blab online about writing much anymore because I've gone into this deep cave of creating. I have actually finished 3 books in a middle grade series lately, which I have said absolutely nothing about online! (And I'm still not gonna, *wink*) BUT, I have read it to a dedicated focus group, ie, the third grade at Belle Aire Intermediate, and either those kids are suuuuuuper polite, or they really like ghost stories. (*wink again*)

AND! Actually, I recently published a book! More specifically, my daughter, Carmen Gatton and I published a book. She had the idea and wrote the rough draft and Mommy did the illustrations and other book what nots, and we published that baby! On release day, it broke into a best seller category on Amazon, which was really exciting for the little lady. I had almost forgotten what that felt like, TBH, and it was nice. That book is called Carmen's Cat Book: A Book of Cats, and I have to suggest you give it a look by clicking here.

So, ANYWHO, I am going to the conference to a.) take part in the amazing writing workshops and b.) meet with Literary Agent, Vicki Selvaggio. I am more than a little nervous about that, and by nervous, I mean utterly freaked out. I am presenting my book series to her, but I also hope to impress her as an author illustrator.

In light of that, I have created (FINALLY) an official, handy dandy, online art portfolio. I've wanted to do this for a long time. There are a lot of art gigs I could be applying for, but I shoot myself in the foot by not having a professional portfolio to submit, so I've spent this summer busting my rear to create some portfolio worthy art! And you can check it out by clicking here.  It includes a lot of cool stuff, if I don't say so myself, including coloring pages for you to print and keep! I'm proud to launch it before the conference so that if anyone says, "Hey, what's that weird girl, dressed in black, with the pink glasses all about?" I'll have something to say...

As always, thanks for stopping by!
